Chapter 23 opens on Tunisian pirates and what happens next — and I won’t ruin the full mechanics of it — involves the widows of the pirates themselves, Meymoun and Henri deMaudit and a fleet of ships moving silently in the dark, and a group of Andoran mountaineers.
And then: the emerald green Valley of Baboob. Em-Mucho on his throne. The Sultan who was prophesied, arrived at last.
The nuns who walk into that valley — no longer brides of Christ but something else, something new — are the founding mothers of the culture you’ll meet in *The Nuns of Baboob*. That’s not a metaphor. The women in colorful habits who populate the Sultanate nine hundred years later? Their lineage starts in this chapter. The Andoran smugglers? Their heritage becomes a rite of passage. The pickles? Still central.
